LINEAR-base is a new generation of traverse slides, which have been especially developed for the application in high precision handling systems, measuring equipment, measuring automations and most accurate tool machining tasks.
The air supported LINEAR-base is operated with an elaborate combination of air and vacuum-air-bearing. To guarantee the initial tension of the slide without the lower counter bearing – resulting in great constructive advantages – the upper guide line is constructed with a forceful vacuum air bearing. The LINEAR-base is equipped with two air-bearing sets on each side. They are firmly adjusted on the one side and mounted with a strong spring packet on the counter side. Each air bearing can be separately adjusted with a fine throttle and therefore configured to almost any specific condition arising. Two security bars are fitted to avoid a side way tilting of the slide when the air supply is disconnected.
The robust traverse slide is able to manage
immense side- and vertical forces and is therefore also suitable for speedy
traverse movements with accordingly high accelerations. A deep ripped reinforcement
guarantees highest compressive rigidity and minimal weight. Amongst others
a ball screw spindle, linear motor etc. may be used as motorization. The
smaller models of
LINEAR-base have a continuous upper guidance surface. With bigger
types the actuation can be smartly integrated in a guidance slot.

The advantages:
LINEAR-base is insensibletowards fluctuations in temperature and inequality
of parallelism of the guidelines. Furthermore, the adjustment of the air bearings
is simple and an easy handling is guaranteed. A special construction prevents
the sagging of the slide’s upper plate due to the heavy pressure of the
forceful side plates, even when under massive impact of force.
