Straightness measurement module SMU

The straightness measurement module SMU fulfils highest requirements in precision and quality. Developed, produced, calibrated and put into operation by Kunz precision AG according to customer specific requirements, this measuring module forms an indispensable cornerstone in the customers quality management.

A stable base plate made of finely-grained hard stone stored on a vibration damped frame made of granite forms the basis of the straightness measuring module. Specimens up to a measuring length of 1400 mm and up to a maximum weight of 650 kg are fixed between the tips. For the CNC controlled angular positioning of the work piece, the firmly established headstock has a high-resolution angle measurement system as well as a torque motor. The spindle bearing is very stable in axial and radial direction and convinces with highest accuracies. The tailstock is guided in a T-nut and is efficiently adjustable. The finely adjustable straightness measuring axis is arranged parallel to the specimen. The very stable vacuum air-bearing measuring slide floats resistance-free on its air cushion. Its guidance is a finely lapped bar of finely-grained black hard stone with a stable cross section. The motorisation is achieved by a non-ferrous linear motor and the exact position display ensures a precise linear measuring system. Perfectly designed hold systems for the measuring sensors allow efficient measurements in highest repeatability and precision. With the respective equipment, the customer is able to compensate and calibrate the straightness measurement module SMU. The measuring software leads reliably through the steps to be made for the measurements as well as for the compensation and the calibration. The operation of the CNC controller is intuitive and the recording of the measurement results is clear. Through respective interfaces the recorded data can be exported into Q-systems.
